Gorgonians and other corals of the Mediterranean and Black Seas

This iNaturlist project is aimed to collects pictures of sea fans and other corals in the Mediterranean and the Black Sea for taxonomic, biological and ecological purposes.

Both macros, allowing species identification, and panoramic pictures, showing the abundance of local populations, are of great interest for the project.

Pictures describing reproductive events, i.e. release of gametes and planules, are particularly welcome!

Coral diseases (e.g. bleaching and necrosis) and injuries, epibionts overgrowth, colonies threatened by fishing lines and nets, and mass mortality events should be documented.
